  • Engagement and Networks: This office is crucial in proactively addressing risks through diplomatic channels and strategic alliances, enhancing our risk management solutions with sophisticated open-source intelligence.
  • Research and Analysis: Serving as our knowledge hub, this office conducts extensive research, ensuring we are equipped with the latest insights and informed by comprehensive studies and analysis.

Primary Role:

The Network Specialist plays an important role in organizing and coordinating interactions with high-level diplomats, military personnel, and the members of our volunteer Advisory Council. As the principal contact, the specialist ensures exemplary service in communication, logistical support, and training, aligning closely with our strategic objectives.

The Network Specialist helps connect Council members with meaningful opportunities, facilitating their active engagement with our missions and ensuring the provision of analytical products tailored to the Council's requirements. They also organize regular briefings, whether virtually or in person, maintaining the flow of information between Engagement and Networks, Assessment and Distribution, and Prediction and Foresight. Responsibilities extend to the management of the Advisory Council's operational needs, including the preparation of event logistics, ensuring the smooth implementation of Council action, and undertaking additional tasks as necessary to support the Council's agenda.

Moreover, this role is crucial in supporting the Director's efforts to build, cultivate, and manage a dynamic network of aligned non-governmental organizations, the Creative Coalition, which is intended to create and execute bespoke engagement strategies.

Compensation:

We offer competitive compensation commensurate to the applicant's skills and experience. The hiring range differs depending on where the applicant will be based.
  • If the position is based in our Washington, D.C., office, the hiring range is USD 60,775 to 75,000 gross per year. US benefits include Medical, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, Short and Long Term Disability, and a 401k.
  • If the position is based in Vienna, Austria, the hiring range is EUR 45,000 to 55,000 gross per year.
Applicants meeting the requirements below should expect to receive an offer at the entry-level of the range. The higher range is reserved for exceptional candidates.

Location:

This position may either be located within the DMV area (United States of America) or in Vienna, Austria (European Union).
  • In the DMV area, this role will be based in our OEF Washington, D.C., office. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America. We are unable to offer sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or green card sponsorship).
  • In Austria, the role will be based in our Vienna office. OEF Austria is a recognized International Non-Governmental Organisation, allowing it to issue work permits to any successful candidate irrespective of nationality and immigration status. For this basing, we welcome applicants from across the world.
Primary Responsibilities:

Support the OEF IPS Advisory Council and Creative Coalition including, but not limited to:
  • Coordinate IPS' relationship with the Advisory Council and the Creative Coalition.
  • Plan and execute online and in-person events for the Advisory Council and the Creative Coalition, as required.
  • In consultation with the Director, exchange analytical information between the Advisory Council, the Creative Coalition, and the other offices of the ISP, as required.
  • Identify opportunities to share information and insights among OEF's broader network (including with our sister-entities PAX sapiens and Secure World Foundation), while remaining cognizant of confidentiality and privacy.
  • Brief the IPS team on developments within the network.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
  • Advanced degree, preferably in international security or conflict dynamics (relevant work experience will be considered).
  • 3+ years of applicable experience, preferably in diplomatic settings.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with diplomatic coordination.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage priorities, tasks, and relationships across time zones and in a dynamic, culturally diverse environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations, demonstrating poise, tact, and diplomacy with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance with the flexibility to accommodate demands outside of regular working hours.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
  • Knowledge of customer relationship management systems and project management software.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Strategic and innovative thinking.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, especially in editing documents.
Physical Work Demands:
  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift and move up to 25 lbs / 12 kg regularly.
