Position Summary

Are you a youth development or education professional with a passion for increasing economic opportunity for all? Urban Alliance, a national youth workforce development nonprofit, is seeking Part-time Program Associate/Onsite Supervisor to support in the daily tasks and needs of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the HSIP, and the Summer Internship Program. This role will monitor students onsite during the internship period at USPTO four days a week. This position will also support the Greater DC Program Team with other duties that may arise during the course of the program year. The role works closely with the Program Manager and Program Coordinator and reports to the Program Manager. You'll be part of a fun, committed, and hard-working team that always puts our students first.

Urban Alliance provides economically-disadvantaged young people with the exposure, opportunity, support, and training needed to prepare them for lifelong economic self-sufficiency. Urban Alliance's core program matches underserved high school seniors with paid, professional internships, job skills training, one-on-one mentoring, and ongoing post-program support to expand their ideas of what is possible for their futures. Since its founding in Washington, DC in 1996, Urban Alliance has expanded its work in DC to encompass parts of Northern Virginia and Montgomery County, MD; and replicated its program model in Baltimore, Chicago, and Detroit. To date, Urban Alliance has placed more than 6,000 students in paid internships and served more than 23,000 youth through job skills training.

Qualifications

Associate Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection of relevant attendance and program deliverable completion data into Salesforce and other databases as requested
  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of career panels and other program workshops
  • Responsible for attending some workshops, entering student attendance into Salesforce, Canvas, as well as any databases required by the organization's funders (i.e. USPTO).
  • Perform administrative duties including data collection and input, responding to participant requests and assisting with distribution of teaching supplies and other program materials
Onsite Supervisor Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site supervision to interns while student are present on the USPTO campus.
  • Work with the USPTO onsite program managers on ensuring intern task are complete in a timely manner
  • Monitor, manage and discuss issues regarding student attendance and performance weekly
  • Work with Intern Program Lead to ensure all data is collected and UA task are completed
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with community organizations and schools in under-resourced areas
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present oneself professionally and maintain professional working relationships with young adults and external partners
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint
  • Flexible and capable of adapting to change
  • Preferred: Proficient in Salesforce

Compensation and Benefit Package

At Urban Alliance one of our core values is taking care of each other, and this includes offering competitive benefits. The total compensation package for this position is between $30-$33 per hour, and working a no more than 20 hours per week.
