Business Office Customer Service Representative Seattle , Washington **Description:**
**Swedish is calling a Business Office Customer Service Representative (1.0 FTE, Day shift) in the Customer Service Center to Swedish Shared Services in Seattle, WA**
*The Business Office Customer Service Representative is responsible for ensuring that patient, physician and third party requests and questions regarding medical billing issues are addressed and resolved in a prompt, courteous and comprehensive manner in accordance with SHS policies and procedures. In addition, the customer service representative functions as a payor team member to facilitate maximum cash flow and reimbursement for the hospitals by following up on unpaid balances.*
**In this position you will:**
* Respond in an efficient and courteous manner to inbound phone calls regarding facility bill, payments, statements, Explanation of Benefits, account status, and other claims processing related inquiries
* Conduct follow-up with patients, payers, guarantors, third party billers, and other key stakeholders, to improve customer service levels, cash flow and reimbursement levels for SHS
* Document phone calls, decisions, outcomes, and other specifics related to customer interactions
* Treat callers with respect and honesty
* Maintain current knowledge of regulatory, legal and contractual rules related to patient bills
* Be efficient and accurate in resolving customer issues and questions, without lowering service levels
**Qualifications:**
**Required qualifications for this position includes:**
* Medical terminology and medical coding training in an accredited school **-or-** equivalent on-the-job training in a hospital patient services role
* Two (2) years of experience in customer service
* Basic understanding of healthcare billing function
**Preferred qualifications for this position include:**
* Experience in a call center environment
