Job Summary
The primary job duties of this position include using applicable measurement equipment (caliper, protractor, CMM, etc.) to determine conformance with established Sportech drawings, specifications and requirements on new product submissions, start-up, in-process, and finished goods as required. The Quality Lab Tech will support NPD, Operations and other internal departments on quality related issues and continuous improvement activities and initiatives.
Essential job functions
- Track Inspection jobs, maintain daily boards and ensure availability of resources to complete.
- Create CMM programs and CMM inspection part plans.
- Operate CMM to inspect parts to CAD drawings and/or prints.
- Creates and publishes first article inspection reports (FAIR).
- Validate Supplier FAIR and provide feedback as required.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, including GD&T dimensioning applying ASME 14.5Y requirements.
- Gathers and summarizes data to communicate, solve quality issues and recommends improvements.
- Communicates and provides quality KPI s and tracks cost of quality trends.
- Provides statistical process control data (SPC) internally and externally as required.
- Supports Quality Inspector activities including training, troubleshooting, and backup.
- Participates in internal and external audits as needed.
- Responsibility for establishing and maintaining lab 5S.
- Other projects and duties assigned.
Requirements
- Requires a high school diploma.
- 1-2 years quality or inspection role in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of GD&T dimensioning and drawing structure.
- CMM experience with Verisurf software knowledge preferred.
- Demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy; in dealing with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
