Product Owner


Job Details

The Product Owner defines, delivers, and manages the lifecycle of products in a product portfolio. Leads a single product team developing a product as defined by the Product Complexity Model.


Responsibilities

  • Defines and manages product roadmap
  • Build, groom and prioritize the product backlog, continuously managing expectations with relevant stakeholders including the senior leadership team
  • Manage the sprint planning process and participate in all relevant ceremonies (reviews of prior sprints, grooming, retrospectives, etc.)
  • Develop a deep contextual understanding of our customer, worker and user needs
  • Gather market feedback through user interactions, focus groups, and by performing industry research to support future development
  • Write detailed functional specifications, user stories and product documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of developers, designers and analysts to implement and deliver new products and features
  • Collaborate with the organization on vision, strategy, decisioning, tactical execution, and measurement systems
  • Communicate roadmap stages and timelines internally with key stakeholders


Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action.
  • Preferred Product Owner Certification obtained within 6 months upon entry of role
  • Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team
  • Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate
  • Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to build relationships
  • Understanding of the SDLC process and the ability to work in an agile environment with bi-weekly releases
  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs
  • 5 or more years working in utility industry
  • Experience as a Product Analyst
  • Agile Product Owner certification
  • "Black Belt" Six Sigma certification
  • Experience with Jira
  • Experience with relevant new product or technology development experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with teams developing and shipping software


Working Conditions

  • Office environment mostly, with some research, analysis or engagement conducted in plants or field


Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science, marketing or related business discipline.


Logistics:

  • 12-month contract with potential for extension/conversion
  • Hybrid in Charlotte, NC
  • W2 (US Citizen and Green Card Holders Only)
  • Pay: $56/hr
