The Dispatcher is responsible for managing the day to day dispatch operations for the Transportation Department, providing input to changes to assist with managing day to day operations, and maintaining Pacific Coast Fresh Company's focus on customer service, while reinforcing a culture focused on safety within the department and organization. This induvial must be a self-motivated while being able to be work well within the team environment.
What you'll do...
- Dispatch the day to day off route needs for Pacific Coast Fresh while make decisions on routing based on customers and drivers available
- Assist with order taking for wholesale customers
- Work with Will Call and Wholesales customers in taking phone calls order taking and processing will call orders.
- Utilize multiple software platforms to assist with dispatching, including but not limited to ProducePro, Dispatch Track, and Samsara
- Assist in the day to day operations of the department
- Assist in scheduling employees to accommodate transportation department needs, including maintaining list of on call drivers
- Make recommendations for changes in staffing as necessary to meet demands of workload
- Promote company values of Service, Quality, Integrity, Purposeful Growth, Sustainability, & Family
- Work with all members of the transportation department to reinforce safety culture
- Work with the warehouse teams to ensure routes and off route trips are picked and shipped on time.
- Attend and contribute to regularly scheduled department and driver meetings
What we look for... - Bachelors degree preferred with 3+ years of transportation experience, or equivalent combination work experience and education
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate within all levels of Pacific Coast Fresh
- Team-oriented, with the ability to look at what's best for the company when making decisions
- Capability to recognize trends and ability to report to leadership to improve department KPIs
- Advanced computer skills, with the ability to learn key programs essential to dispatching and the transportation department
- Ability to learn the Portland Metro area and Pacific Coast Fresh key customers
- Ability to think dynamically & make decisions based on current staffing and customer needs
