Central Bark Philadelphia is looking for a Groomer

If you have experience, skills, and a love for what you do, this is the place! We have an amazing client base, including dogs who come weekly to our daycare as well as neighborhood regulars who LOVE our services.

This is a full time, temporary to permanent position, replacing our full time groomer while she is on maternity leave. When she returns we plan to offer grooming services 7 days a week, which would then make your position permanent.

Summary: Responsible for the bathing and grooming (Haircuts) of customer dogs. We operate 365 days a year; groomers are expected to work their agreed upon shifts. Approximately 90% of your time will be standing on your feet grooming, bathing, brushing and drying dogs, 10% is spent on general cleaning of the grooming area, doing grooming associated laundry etc.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
  • Grooming dogs, including but not limited to haircuts, bathing, drying and brushing
  • Maintaining grooming records
  • General up keep of grooming room, cleaning and laundering when necessary
  • Customer service based communications with clients about their dog's groom related concerns

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of grooming certificate or related experience of one year.

Physical Skills: Ability to perform a variety of demanding physical activities, including lifting a minimum of 50 pounds (whether it is a bag of dog food, a crate or a dog), and standing for long periods of time. Grasping, pinching and pulling skills are also needed to leash and collar dogs as well as control them as well as the repeated motions associated with bathing dogs.

Health: It is required that all dog groomers are current on their Tetanus vaccination.

Language Skills: Ability to read dog information including names and bathing instructions. Be able to communicate dog issues with management either via written or oral communication. Be able to maintain a clear record of bathing performed.

Mathematical Skills: Basic measuring and counting abilities as related to cleaning and counting change back to customers.

Computer Skills: A basic understanding of Windows based applications is helpful.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, analyze emergencies and think on your feet.
