EXECUTIVE SOUS CHEF ROLE

Purple Cafe and Wine Bar is seeking a culinary professional to join our team as an Executive Sous Chef. This person would work directly under our Executive Chef in helping develop, lead, and manage the culinary teams at both Purples, in Seattle and Woodinville. They will act as the Executive Chef's "right hand" and support the operations in their entirety. The ability to travel and work at both locations is non-negotiable. We are looking for someone with the following requirements:


  • 2-3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or other Culinary leadership role
  • Ability to work all stations within the operation
  • Ensure that all recipes, product, food preparations and food execution meet restaurant's specifications and commitment to culinary excellence.
  • Creativity and knowledge in cooking processes, menu development, and proper ingredient sourcing and use
  • Passionate about Culinary Arts and Hospitality with a focus in quality, execution and consistency
  • Operational mindset with a focus on guest experiences through exceptional culinary experiences
  • Lead a high performing kitchen team and maintain excellence & hospitality throughout each day's specific service periods
  • Delivers consistent execution of food and timely flow of service by directing the team and ensuring an effectively expedited service
  • Educate dining room service staff on all aspects of food menu & culinary procedures through tastings and staff presentation
  • Fosters a positive, collaborative work environment for both the service and kitchen teams, ensuring clear communication at all times
  • Consistently looks for internal and external opportunities to build our growing team
  • Help ensure that purchasing, inventory and labor are all being managed with Executive Chefs direction and targets.
  • Experience working with a variety of cuisines and their execution
  • Takes feedback and direction well
  • Proper awareness of how all equipment works and functions
  • General understanding of facilities and maintenance
  • Ensure that back of house operations are kept clean, safe and up to "Excellent" level health code standards.
  • Flexible schedule
  • Lead the kitchen teams to ensure all team members are appropriately trained to execute the assigned station properly
  • Provide feedback and guidance with excellence and hospitality in mind, ensuring that all team members have a pathway for growth and development
  • Positive but focused attitude
