The Senior Accountant for both tax and accounting & auditing will be responsible for the following: planning the engagement, formulating the budget for approval, coordinating with clients' accounting personnel, and completing the engagement while communicating with the Manager or Principal as to unexpected issues and overall progress of the engagement. The Senior Accountant will begin to be involved with the billing process and will supervise lower level accountants. This position works extra hours during busy season.

Essential Functions:
Performs all work according to the firm's methods, policies and procedures.
Performs tax planning for individuals and businesses (Periodic and year-end) with minimal supervision.
Reviews and/or prepares work papers for businesses, individuals and/or fiduciary tax returns.
Manages a larger, more complex client engagement and supervises staff - while simultaneously running 4-5 smaller client engagements.
Demonstrates leadership qualities consistent with building and managing a professional team. Trains and reviews work, answers questions for Staff Accountants and provides timely feedback. Monitors Progress.
Promotes and celebrates team successes with all team members; fosters collaboration with others; develops and maintains positive work relationships; actively participates in team-oriented objectives and activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities (applies when hiring a supervisor):
Staff Level I, II and III
Recruits, hires, and conducts performance evaluations.
Implements training, or identifies training opportunities.
Handles corrective action and termination as needed, and in accordance with firm's policies.

Minimum requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Accounting certificate.

3 - 6 years of tax and accounting exp.

An understanding of the basic principles of Accounting.

Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week.

Other Skills / Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Strong understanding of US tax regulations
Knowledge of state and federal tax form processes and how to accurately properly prepare forms for each
Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with many clients
Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills
Experience consulting tax handbooks or other printed materials to determine the proper procedure for preparing challenging returns
Skilled using various accounting software and experience in troubleshooting common accounting program problems
Personal integrity when working with personal and sensitive financial information
Professional experience in financial forecasting and risk analysis

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional non-local travel may be required no more than 5-10% of the year, depending on your client base.
Occasional lifting of boxes and/or paperwork up to 25 pounds.
