Under the direction of the Patient Support Services Manager, the Patient Support Specialist often serves as the first touch point for Blackbird Health patients. As such, they are primarily responsible for engaging and activating patients to support them in receiving the care they need. Patient Support Specialists are seen as a trusted partner to our patients, guiding them through their journey to better mental health. Joining the ranks means you'll have an automatic network to turn to for best practices, professional development, and opportunities to share your expertiseESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Conduct daily telephonic outreach to patients and families to answer questions about Blackbird Health servicesField inbound calls from prospective and existing patients ensuring their questions are answered in a timely manner, including directing calls to appropriate team membersSchedule and confirm patient appointments, including sending remindersSupport patients and families with necessary paperwork, including medical histories and other information to ensure they are matched with the right level of careConnect with individuals and understand their medical experience to determine eligibility and appropriateness for participation in Blackbird Health ServicesPerform various clerical or administrative functions, such as collecting copays and validating insurance coverageCompile medical records and reports to support high-quality patient care and integration with referring providers; Receive and route messages or documents, such as laboratory results, to appropriate team membersOperate office equipment, such as voice mail messaging systems, and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications to prepare reports, invoices, financial statements, letters, case histories, or medical recordsAttend team meetings to support organizational success and participate in ongoing training required by organization to enhance clinical skills and ensure high quality services are deliveredAble to independently problem solve and organize time to consistently achieve productivity and quality standards for roleREQUIREMENTS:Some College Courses or an Associates degreeExperience in a medical officeTelephonic outreach experienceCustomer service experiencePassion for helping othersAvailable to work up to 3 days a week from our Vienna, VA clinic. The remainder of your week can be performed remotelyWorks efficiently, and is able to maintain the daily/monthly volume of work consistentlyAbility to connect with and engage people from diverse backgrounds, experiences, culturesGenuine, empathic, listening skillsEagerness to work in an environment that values ongoing learning and growthExcellent time management, strong self-organization, confidence, and independenceExcitement to work in a growing, mission driven organizationPREFERRED SKILLS:Bachelor's degreeExperience in mental healthcareFamiliarity with Google SuiteBlackbird
