Location Brevard County, Florida, United States Category Facility Services 055767 **Shift Times** Variable Security Officer I - All locations, variable shifts available - 055767 * Deter criminal activity and misconduct; investigate suspicious situations; perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
* Communicate by use of 2-way radios, telephones and computers
* Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
* Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
* Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying prohibited articles
* Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitor entrances and exits
* Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate physical security requirements
* Conduct patient escorts, patient watches, provide safety escort, assist and/or transport deceased to morgue
* Complete required shift logs and reports; compliance with site post orders, and Health First policies and procedures
* Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities
* Aid associates, patients, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
* Perform other related duties as assigned or directed by Security supervision
* Maintain required certifications, licensing, and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position
** Qualifications**
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* **Experience:**
+ Associates hired after April 1, 2021 must be at least 21 years of age for insurance purposes
+ At least one (1) year verifiable work experience preferably in courier, security, or customer service role
* **Licensure:**
+ **Current, valid driver's license required. State of Florida driver's license required within 30 days of establishing Florida residency and maintain**
+ Clean State of Florida Motor Vehicle Record
+ Class D Security Officer License preferred
* **Certification:**
+ Must complete American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course within 60 days of hire and maintain certification
* **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
+ Expected completion of Crisis Prevention Training within first 90 days
+ Physical ability to deal with or subdue mental health patient in crisis
+ Must be willing to carry out tasks that may require entering the hospital morgue and the roof-top helipad
+ Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors
+ Ability to actively listen, interact cordially and effectively communicate with the public
+ Effective oral and written communication skills
+ Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively
+ Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately
+ Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend conversation and symbols in the English language
+ Attention to detail
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
* Must be able to climb up to nine (9) flights of stairs
* Must be able to withstand extreme heat and cold
* Must be able to listen, speak, walk, stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time, for assigned shift
* Must be able to lift & carry up to 50 pounds
* Must be able & willing to properly wear Personal Protective mask & gloves for assigned shift
* Must be able to respond within 90-seconds of an urgent duress call
