Summary:

Responsible for managing the accurate and timely receiving, slotting, loading, rotation, and replenishment of warehouse product that is brought into the warehouse and shipments to retail stores. This position is responsible for managing the accurate and timely selection of product.This position is also responsible for the correct operation of the sanitation functions and the inventory control function.


Duties

Insure the accurate and timely receiving of product coming into the

warehouse. Follow up on rotation and replenishment of product and communicate any concerns to the appropriate receiving supervisor.

Insure that all receiving paperwork is sent to the inventory control

supervisor.Maintain consistency and correctness of product inventory.

Insure the sanitation functions are operating properly.

Investigate concerns from stores on poor load conditions, mis-shipped product, etc.

Communicate with the Operations Manager on problems, progress, or concerns.

Follow through with the requests and recommendations of the Operations Manager.

Maintain adequate and accurate records for planning and analysis.

Communicate with transportation on loading/shipping errors, backhaul

schedules, and any changes. Assess supply needs for the warehouse and purchase in a timely manner.

Work with buyers on procurement of product into the facility.

Communicate with data processing to verify store ordering schedule

changes or any late data orders coming into the warehouse.

Insure that the proper cycle counting is taking place.

Participate in the budgeting process for the warehouse.

Recognize both good and poor performance.Counsel and document

accordingly.

Notify Maintenance Manager of maintenance needs of the facility.

Understand, communicate, and implement company policies,

procedures, and concepts.

Work with Human Resources Manager to identify manpower needs and

assist in the process for filling posted positions.

Practice effective employee relations. Be sensitive to the needs and

concerns of associates. Treat them in a fair and equal manner. Foster

trust, respect, and integrity throughout the facility.

Know and understand the Process Safety Management Program.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to five years related supervisory warehouse experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word word processing software; Softgrocer inventory software; VLM payroll systems and OPIE human resource systems.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 150 employees in the Shipping, Receiving, Bldg. and Grounds, Salvage Dock and Inventory Control. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to work in high, precarious places and extreme cold (non-weather).The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Frozen foods manager would work regularly in temperatures -20 degrees F.Perishable managers would work regularly in temperatures 35-55 degrees F.
