Description

JINSA seeks an experienced, creative, and hard-working individual to join our team as Director of Government Affairs. This is a full-time position, with excellent benefits, and will report to the Vice President, Government Affairs. Salary is commensurate with experience.


Duties

  • Identify, build, and maintain relationships with key congressional offices and committees, as well as Executive Branch agencies and departments, relevant to JINSA s policy priorities to advance U.S. national security interests in the Middle East.
  • Work with JINSA s policy and communications team to adapt policy reports, national security briefs, memos, etc. into products tailored to government audiences to maximize impact on a bipartisan basis.
  • Develop and implement strategies to communicate JINSA policy recommendations to relevant government officials and relay to JINSA the evolving priority concerns of policymakers.
  • Prepare JINSA subject matter experts to brief members of congress and provide educational briefings to congressional staffers.
  • Recruit national security professionals working for members of congress to participate in JINSA s annual Congressional National Security Program to Israel, which showcases the strength of the U.S.-Israel partnership through visits to key strategic locations including military installations, Israel s borders, and defense industrial and innovation sites. Help plan and execute the program.
  • Secure participation of key policymakers and staff in JINSA s in-person and virtual events and webinars.
  • Track engagement metrics to help improve productivity over time.


Qualifications/Skills

  • 5+ years in a relevant position, such as Congressional staffer or Executive Branch official, or non-profit, trade association, or corporate government affairs director, , etc.
  • Bachelor s degree (minimum) in political science, international affairs, history, or related fields.
  • Experience working in government strongly preferred. Experience managing a national security portfolio for a congressman on the Armed Services or Foreign Affairs Committees ideal.
  • Proven ability to multi-task on diverse projects, handle multiple assignments at once, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable working alone or collaboratively with a team.
  • Strong interest in U.S. military and national security issues, including issues related to Israel, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the broader Middle East.
