Legal Administrative Assistant

LHH is currently partnering with a well-known Law Firm in the Washington, DC area looking to bring on Legal Administrative Assistant. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience with any legal exposure being a huge plus. This is a temporary to hire position that will offer a hybrid schedule. The hourly pay rate is between $22-$24 per hour based on experience.

This position will primarily support our legal team in administrative tasks, document management, and other clerical duties. The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide administrative support to attorneys and legal staff, including managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  2. Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, and contracts.
  3. Maintain and organize electronic and physical files, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  4. Conduct legal research as directed, and compile relevant information for cases and projects.
  5. Draft and proofread correspondence, memos, and other documents with accuracy and attention to detail.
  6. Assist in billing and timekeeping activities, including data entry and invoice processing.
  7. Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, and external parties, maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
  8. Prepare materials for meetings, hearings, and depositions, including arranging logistics and assembling necessary documents.
  9. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by supervising attorneys or legal management.
  10. Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and legal regulations.

Requirements:

  1. Previous experience as a legal assistant or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment is preferred.
  2. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to learn new software and legal research tools.
  3. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in document preparation and data entry.
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  6. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional demeanor.
  7. Familiarity with legal terminology, procedures, and documentation is advantageous.
  8. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
  9. High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in legal studies or office administration is a plus.

Duration: This position is temporary with the opportunity for conversion to a permanent role based on performance and business needs.
