Snell & Wilmer currently has an opening for a Legal Administrative Assistant within our Litigation Practice Group in the Portland office.You will calendar, docket, send out correspondence, take in paperwork, manage and reconcile payments, assist with filings, and perform all other duties assigned.The successful candidate will be able to handle day-to-day work challenges of juggling the work of attorneys in a fast-paced environment, the ability to function independently and in a team environment with strong attention to detail.

The hours for this position are from Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensures that all documents have been proofread, edited and revised as necessary
  • Preparing and formatting briefs, pleadings, exhibits and other legal documents
  • Generating Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities
  • Filing legal documents (including sealed filings) in Federal, State, and Appellate Courts
  • Entering details from attorney time records
  • Coordinating monthly billing process
  • Coordinating case litigation plan and billing to conform with outside counsel guidelines
  • Preparing client invoices, budgets, and billing appeals for submission to e-billing platforms
  • Corresponding with clients; answering telephone calls
  • Maintaining attorney calendars
  • Monitoring case docket
  • Maintaining active case files and closing inactive cases
  • Making travel arrangements and submitting expense reimbursement reports
  • Coordinating conflict searches and preparing new client/matter reports and draft engagement letters
  • Anticipates the needs of attorneys and keeps attorneys organized
  • Develops and maintains smooth working relationships with staff, attorneys and clients
Experience and Qualifications:
  • At least 2 years of litigation legal administrative assistant experience within a mid-size law firm
  • Must be familiar with Oregon and Washington Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Possess excellent proofing and editing skills
  • Experience with e-filing
  • Excel, Word and Outlook proficiency
