**Job Description**


The Purchasing Agent negotiates and coordinates the procurement of all stores, materials and/ or repair parts required by the assigned company vessels at various home port cities, out ports and dry-docks in accordance with company policies and procedures. Issues purchase orders from requisitions supplied from shipboard and shoreside staff across multiple systems in accordance with Supply Chain policies and procedures.


Looks for substitute items across multiple vendors in a fast-paced environment when contracted vendor fails to deliver goods and issues purchase order accordingly.


Supports the Supply Chain team with analytics in support of best pricing, lead time analysis, fulfillment, and identifying frequently purchased items.


**Job Functions:**


+ Reviews confirmations from vendors and sources any out of stock item from other vendors by researching and identifying supply option and/or substitutions.


+ Receives purchase requisition assignments from the Purchasing Manager fulfilling the requisitions by established contracts or by competitive bidding process.


+ Sends Purchasing Orders and paperwork to the company vessels in advance of loading dates while maintaining proper backup and documentation.


+ Investigate and resolve discrepancies on each storing and secures credits when due. Work with Accounts Payable to clear holds.


+ Consult ship staff concerning any questions or discrepancies regarding loading and deliveries of present or past voyages.


+ Build and maintain product information/commodity files.


+ Provide follow up and expediting as needed to ensure arrival of supplies to destination.


+ Develop and maintain satisfactory relationships with vendors, service suppliers and internal customers adhering to corporate objectives and ethics guidelines.


+ Cooperatively work with peers (buyers and purchasing agents) in resolving operational and procurement issues.


+ Provide training to new staff members in assigned areas of responsibility as requested by Management.


+ Handles other projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.

**Qualifications:**


+ Education: Associates degree required; Bachelors degree preferred


+ Work Experience: 5+ years purchasing experience required


**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**


+ Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software programs, Microsoft Office experience preferred


+ Familiar with Carnival Cruise Line on-line purchasing systems


+ Local sourcing knowledge helpful


+ Strong negotiation skills and knowledge of bidding and award cycle


+ Excellent interpersonal skills with strong customer service skills


+ Detail oriented and exceptional organizational skills


+ Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities effectively


+ Global sourcing experience desired


+ Familiarity with MS Excel, Oracle, Hyperion and CrunchTime


Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.


Travel: Less than 25% with shipboard travel likely shore based


Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.


The range for this roles salary $43,800-$63,800. Offers to the selected candidates will be made on a fair and equitable basis, taking into account specific job-related skills and experience.
