Your Key Responsibilities

A Project Manager at Stantec is a licensed professional chiefly responsible for design excellence, technical quality, and project delivery and execution. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate mastery of these compulsories while at the same time having a passion for the following: mentoring the next generation of architects, leveraging design to enhance teaching and learning, instilling a sustainable mindset, and growing business through presentations, interviews, and cultivation of client relationships.

  • Management of key client accounts with multiple tasks performed simultaneously.
  • Managing complex tasks on multiple, small to medium scale and/or highly complex projects.
  • Managing inter-disciplinary teams including designers, architects, engineers, and other building related professionals.
  • Effectively participates and helps to win work in interviews for potential projects.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
  • Leads the client and project team to assure that the project design meets the client budget, schedule, program, and design intent.
  • Assists in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
  • Develops and manages project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.
  • Mentors project team members.
  • Assures that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented with the assistance of the Project Controls team.
  • Leads project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
  • Manages and tracks change orders, applications for payment by contractors and other contractual modifications impacting budget and schedule.
  • Works with Studio leadership in determining project staffing needs, recommending personnel and annual review process for staff.
  • Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections with the support of the Project Controls team.


Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Able to run day-to-day project activities/tasks/meetings, manage project production team, and serve as main client POC.
  • Client facing and professional.
  • Must be local and able to attend regular on-site client meetings in the Washington metropolitan area.
  • Comprehensive understanding of accessibility codes, life-safety codes, building construction systems, means and methods, materials, and industry associated standards.
  • Proactively takes appropriate action without requiring continued direction or guidance.
  • Effectively manages multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Team player with the client, entire project team and contractor.
  • Excellent communicator, with understanding of tools such as OneNote, Bluebeam and other modern means of virtual collaboration.
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit and InDesign.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field. Registered Architect preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience. LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.

Additional Information

The position will take place in a typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
