As Development Associate you are a key team member supporting the Development team on various projects that include project pursuit, investigation of project feasibility, and conducting owner-related tasks on active development projects. You will facilitate the development and implementation of various business plans and programs that will help the Company, or our clients grow and prosper. You will be tasked with analyzing data to understand market conditions, preparing agendas for both long and short term, and maintaining contact with the Marketing Department to make updates to web content. In addition, as the Development Associate you may also be asked to directly assist clients and keep good, healthy relationships with these customers. You can also be asked to create and deliver large presentations to both executives and clients, as well as detailed strategies, sales reports, and other data.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Attend all development team meetings to assure communication flow within the department and with other departments is occurring at an effective level
  • Assist in the maintenance and tracking of due diligence, pre-development budgets, proformas and development checklists
  • Assist in the planning, negotiation, pricing and running of proformas for building opportunities
  • Build, check and expand client database and key contact information
  • Create, organize, disseminate and proof communication, presentation and documentation
  • Support the Development Team to establish and execute objectives and strategy for the successful acquisition and execution of development projects
  • Provide daily support to Development Department leadership in managing the region s projects and activities
  • Contribute to the strategic development of regional investment and divestment strategies
  • Assist in sourcing, underwriting, and securing and closing all phases of property transactions
  • Participate and support leasing, marketing and public relations efforts Work in collaboration with Development team members, including the CEO, and key internal stakeholders to perform tasks and accomplish objectives set by the team.
  • Conduct internal and external investigative analysis at the request of Development team members.
  • Develop an understanding of key market segments that includes retail, healthcare, office, industrial, and hotel.
  • Analyze existing economic, demographic, market and environmental variables to identify areas for expansion
  • Support the Development team in preparation for both client and vendor meetings
  • Develop a understanding of the construction process so that interaction with contractors and other third parties is possible
  • Use Yardi to keep project progress up to date, enabling current financial reporting
  • Help guide projects to the finish line ensuring a smooth transition to Asset Management and Property Management.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor s degree in real estate, finance, construction management, or related field preferred.
  • 2-3 years prior experience in commercial real estate development or project management
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in Excel, Yardi, and Sketchup is a plus
  • Working knowledge of all phases of construction, preferred.
