**Overview:**

We are accepting applications for a Construction Crew Laborer who will support our directional drill construction teams. Construction Crew Laborer preferred candidates must have prior cable or utility experience and a Driver's License. Must be capable of working in all temperatures, climates and weather conditions, and be able to pass background and drug screen.

**Responsibilities:**

* Assist in the loading/unloading will performs tasks associated with the construction/upgrade of cable television or telephone systems.

* Hang dig with shovels, picks digging bars to expose located utilities, access u/g vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches.

* Operate jackhammer, air knives, pneumatic boring equipment (compressors & Missiles) and powered augers.

* Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections (install couplers) as directed, place anchors pedestals vaults, etc. to complete construction tasks.

* Fully restore jobsite at completion of daily work, refill trenches and holes, tamp soil, replant any plants or scrubs that were disturbed during construction, place temporary asphalt on streets where excavation have been performed.

* When required and if appropriately licensed and authorized, drive or operate construction equipment used on the jobsite to complete daily work assignments.

* Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.

* And other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications:**

* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

* Possess a valid drivers license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.

* A good driving record is required.

* Class A Commercial Drivers License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).

* Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.

* Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.

* Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.

* Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position.

* Must be able to meet physical requirements of the positions.

* Must be willing to train

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* 6 months of experience in the utility construction industry.

* Class A Commercial Drivers License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).

* Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities.

**Physical Requirements:**

* Must be able to perform the above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or on-call.

* Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low.

* The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift.

* Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat.

* Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.

* Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.

* Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance .

* Use all prescribed safety equipment that is required to safety to do the job at hand.
