Associate Attorney


Job Details

The Associate Attorney interprets and provides advice on immigration, citizenship issues, political asylum, and on the processes through which clients may secure visas. Handle an immigration caseload that includes affirmative and the occasional defensive filing. Use creative and aggressive legal strategies to gain legal status for clients. The associate will assist with litigation where necessary, including post-conviction relief.


Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform accurate legal research and analysis
  • Ability to understand complex legal issues or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations in legal documents
  • Research complex legal issues and develop and execute creative legal strategies in evolving or new areas of law
  • Review and approve files, pleadings, settlements, and any other legal work product produced by paralegals and legal assistants.
  • Assist with litigation where necessary, including post-conviction relief
  • Travel for USCIS interviews, court hearings, trainings, and meetings when required


Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited university
  • Valid license and current membership in the bar in any U.S. state
  • Five or more years of legal experience as a licensed attorney
  • Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred
  • Immigration law and litigation experience is preferred but not required
