GENERAL PURPOSE: The Business Development Director, reporting to the Vice President of Asset Management, is responsible for revenue generation through on-site media, brand activations, experiential marketing agencies, sponsorships, and events across the CenterCal portfolio. Tasked with overseeing the activation and execution of partnerships, revenue generating events, and media, this role requires seamless collaboration with the management, marketing, and operations team. Furthermore, the position involves working closely with CenterCal's third-party out-of-home media sales partner to identify fresh inventory opportunities and optimize media sales revenue.

  • Responsible for every facet of media and sales at CenterCal, this role involves researching, identifying, and qualifying new paid media as well as activation and event opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop high-quality property sales materials and sponsorship packages that includes inventory and pricing.
  • Maximize digital opportunities on CenterCal assets web, email, social.
  • Develop an integrated amenities plan for CenterCal's individual properties, detailing the locations of opportunities at each project. Additionally, manage a programming calendar that outlines the use of space and associated terms.
  • Create inventive branded concepts to boost incremental revenue and distinguish CenterCal.
  • Develop relationships with the media-buying, entertainment community to drive new business to CenterCal.
  • Determine obligations in all sponsorship agreements, communicate obligations to internal stakeholders, and develop project timelines with marketing and management teams to successfully fulfill commitments.
  • Advise VP of Asset Management on opportunities to implement infrastructure to support media buys.Provide analysis on associated costs and gain consensus on the program direction prior to initiating.
  • Work as local liaison with each property s General Manager, Marketing, and Operations to coordinate common area assets and ensure maximization of the common areas.
  • Collaborate with the local marketing team to ensure the full activation and deployment of all CenterCal s partnerships and agreements including, but not limited to beverage, automotive, media, sponsorships, paid events, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The following are the minimum qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. Please note that the minimum qualifications may vary based upon the department size and/or geographic location.


  • Bachelor s Degree
  • 5+ years of experience preferably in media sales and marketing experience, preferably direct media sales pitching agencies and national brands
  • Previous experience successfully implementing media programs on behalf of national and local brands within shopping centers, sports arenas, and other consumer venues preferred.
  • Shopping center experience preferred
  • Must possess strong creative skills as well as be a strategic and analytical thinker
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly dynamic work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, oral and written communication skills
  • Networking, presentation and negotiating skills
  • Ability to work and learn independently and in a team situation
  • Ability to collaborate with others and manage through conflict.
  • Ability to prioritize, coordinate, multi-task, and demonstrate initiative
  • Must possess a strong internal drive and initiative to produce results
