** LEAD ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST (MEDICAL)**

**Summary**

You will serve as a LEAD ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT SPECIALIST (MEDICAL) in the Personnel Support Systems Branch (Code 1102.7), Administrative Officer (Code 1102), Executive Support Staff (Code 1100) at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, VA.

* You will develop statistical data to identify inefficiencies related to operations.

* You will prioritize surveillance requests for emergent work and balances demand to available resources in order to meet the Shipyard's needs.

* You will compile data related to employee' medical appointment absenteeism

* You will organize the team's workload to accommodate urgent and last minute modification to medical appointment schedules.

* You will use a variety of gathering techniques to obtain data, including viewing archived hard-copy records, and extending data from computer databases.

* You will review system data and take necessary action based on circumstances related to various occupational health programs.

* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

* Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.

* This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

** Qualifications**

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

* Experience in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify and communicate problems to supervisor regarding scheduling employees within the Shipyard medical clinic.

* Experience with command organizational structure, mission objectives, functions, procedures, regulations and policy.

* Experience with administrative management techniques and practices to research, analyze, and provide advice to management on administrative issues related to scheduling employees for access to the Shipyard health clinic.

* Experience with displaying extensive knowledge of the Shipyard's clinic records and files management procedures.

* Experience with Shipyard safety and health requirements and qualification requirements to determine and advise on exam applicability to specific occupations within the Shipyard.

* Experience demonstrating the extensive body of medical practices, techniques and terminology.

* Experience with computer operations and various software such as Medical Exam Scheduling system (MES), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Supervisors Desk (SUPDESK), and Microsoft Office.

* Experience with NAVSEA, HIPAA, OSHA, and various other medical regulations to comply with legal and regulatory requirements regarding medical care and privacy of patient information.

* Experience displaying oral and written communications to prepare and present findings and recommend solutions.

* Experience with employee relations principles and counseling techniques.

* Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or

* 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or

* LL.M., if related
