Position Details:
Title: Scientist II (Associate) - Clinical Laboratory /Hospital Pathology Labs/Pharma Pathology
Position Type: Full Time / 1 year contract with contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
Job location: South San Francisco, 100% onsite/lab-based role. Seeking local candidates only
Shift: 8am - 5pm, M-F
Compensation: $34-$36.85 hourly (Based on Experience)
Our clients Anatomic Pathology Group within Research Laboratories in South San Francisco is seeking a contractor with attention to detail who can support front-to-back sample management and shipment organization.
- Candidate with clinical laboratory or hospital pathology labs or pharma pathology labs experience.
- Someone who has expertise handling samples within biosafety following aseptic guidelines.
- Candidate who has handled large number of tissue samples.
- Candidate who has done lot of sample management (from organizing samples, labeling, and maintaining them in a biorepository).

- Please make sure to mention the kind of samples the candidate is working with or has worked with.
- What kind of lab/aseptic techniques did they follow while handling samples?
- Number of samples they handled on an average in a day.
Not Looking For:
- Environmental monitoring sample experience
- Not looking for biochemists/biologist or molecular biology experience.
- Not looking for lab automation scientist
- Experience with patient samples like urine or blood or saliva not needed.
- Not looking for SAP/LIMS specialist.
Key Notes:
- Open to a Masters candidate No PHD
- Will be taking care of logistics of samples.
- Registration of samples in the biorepository system.
- Maintaining the tissue samples.
- Adhere to aseptic guidelines and gowning techniques.
- Process large number of samples in a day (from 30-150 tissue samples)
Will consider:
- Hospital lab working experience.
- Industry experience (example: LabCorp/Quest diagnostics/pharma/biotech)
- CRO
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Inventory and registration of tissue samples.
- Label tissue samples according to internal identification and tissue type.
- Catalog stained slides and FFPE tissue blocks for archival purposes.
- Communicate closely with external vendors to organize periodic shipments.
- May be asked to manage various tasks in support of the Anatomic Pathology laboratory human tissue panels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (or Masters degree No PhD) with equivalent direct work experience of minimum two (2) years of in laboratory setting within hospital/pharma/biotech or CRO.
- Proficiency in working with tabular data (i.e. Microsoft Excel)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong written communication skills
- proven track record of analytical skills, problem solving and attention to detail.
- High personal integrity and credibility
Preferred Experience
- Proficiency in Labware Biorepository database, or similar tissue banking software
- Prior experience in sample management
- Prior experience in logistics
