Patient Sitter - Emergency Services *$1,500 Sign n Bonus* Olympia , Washington **Description:**

**Providence is calling a Patient Sitter (0.6 FTE, Day Shift) to work in the Emergency Services at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, WA.**

**For External Caregivers Only: 1,500 Sign-On Bonus, $750 upon starting, and an additional $750 at the completion of 12 months of employment.**

The Patient Sitter will perform a variety of tasks to ensure that the assigned patient(s) remains safe. This may include close, continuous observation to maintain patient safety, comfort, and a safe patient care environment. Basic patient care tasks may be delegated by the Registered Nurse. The attendant will document all patient observation and care activities. Also performs non-direct patient care duties as assigned.

* Demonstrate good stewardship of resources by treating property of customers, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and co-workers with care and respect

* Teamwork:

* Work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of staff and other disciplines for problem solving without blaming

* Flexibility:

* Demonstrate flexibility by readily adapting to different situations to complete work

* Document legibly and accurately on the correct nursing forms and electronic medical record

* Perform ongoing observation of the patients condition and reports any changes or abnormal findings promptly to the RN

* Monitor pain, provides comfort measures, and reports abnormal findings promptly to the RN

* Consider age, developmental level, body size and preexisting conditions when performing basic activity of daily living care to assigned patients

* Maintain a safe patient and staff environment. (i.e. Correct body mechanics or use of adaptive equipment when transferring patients, ensures drainage tubes are secure/intact)

* Monitor the patient in restraints for specified criteria and at specified time intervals and documents correctly on the restraint form

* Provide specified nourishment to the correct patient and promptly notifies the RN of any changes or abnormal findings

* Follow manufacturers instructions when using selected equipment, taking into account the patients size, preexisting conditions, and age. (i.e. patient lifts, use of transfer belt)

* Use age appropriate communication techniques with patients and visitors

* When in the attendant role, never leaves the patient alone, and reorients patient frequently

* Complete assignments delegated by RN within specified timeframes

**Qualifications:**

**Required qualifications for this position include:**

* Must obtain CNA license with WA State within fifteen (15) months of hire

* Basic Life Support (BLS)

**Preferred qualification for this position includses:**

* Enrolled in or Completion of CNA course
