**Job Summary:**

* Implement and manage the Project Occupational Safety & Health Program.

* Key member of the site management team.

* Shares responsibility and accountability for the overall operational success of the Contract.

* Empowered to take appropriate action necessary to carry out the companys contractual Occupational Safety, Environmental & Health obligations, in accordance with the Project Managers approval and authority.

**Job Duties:**

* Manage the Project safety resources, provide guidance, direction and establish priorities for implementing safety & health policies, standards and procedures.

* Formulate, recommend and evaluate policies, procedures, & standards to ensure Site safety practices are consistent with prescribed laws, standards & GCR goals.

* Review and evaluate Project activities for conformance with prescribed policies, standards, and procedures and recommend necessary corrective action(s) to obtain conformance.

* Conduct independent reviews and surveys of Project operations and facilities to ensure safe workplaces, conditions and practices.

* Utilize risk analysis and methods used to evaluate problems as well as efficient solutions to related safety issues.

* Report, process and investigate all accident and injury events, to include near-miss events.

* Develop and conduct safety and health training and orientation.

* Manage the Project HAZCOM Program, to include but not limited to; Employee Training, Labeling, Establish & Administer MSDS/SDS Library, maintain Master Inventory, ensure proper introduction, storage and disposal of materiel.

* Assist with the establishment and active participation of a Project Safety Committee in order to foster a collaborative approach towards workplace safety between the workforce and management.

* Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Local & Contractual Environmental Protection laws, regulations and standards.

* Assist with management of Project workers compensation, auto and general liability insurance claims.

* Use computer systems to effectively document and manage site safety program & training records.

* Maintain documentation for reporting purposes and audits.

* Track and trend leading safety indicators.

* Submit written reports per contract & company requirements.

* Responsible for maintenance of safety and mishap records, including required OSHA recordkeeping.

* Exercise independent judgment.

* Perform other administrative and/or HSE duties as required by the Project Manager.

**Safety Requirements:**

* Complies with and actively participate in the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.

* Perform all assigned work in a safe and reasonable manner that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, Customers, the Company, and/or the public.

* Safely performs functions of the position including proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and wearing PPE as required.

* Through leadership and personal example, exemplify a personal commitment to and support of the Company/Project Safety Culture.

* Monitor subordinate safety compliance, ensuring safety is integral part of all work activities.

* Take appropriate corrective action (stop-work, remedial training, disciplinary action, etc.) when subordinates fail comply with established OSH policies & procedures in order to prevent recurrence.

* Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.

* Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.

* Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, or a privately-owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.

* Never talk on the phone without hand free option or text message while operating in a company vehicle or a privately-owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.

* Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs and/or alcohol.

**Machines, Tools and Equipment Used:**

* Computer.

* Printer/scanner/fax.

* Associated General Office Equipment.

**Mandatory:**

* Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

* Be a citizen of the United States.

* Submit to and successfully pass Pre-employment Drug Screening and a Background Check,

* Two-year degree (minimum) in HSE Management field.

* Five years experience managing at a site of similar size, scope and complexity in preparing and enforcing safety programs. Regarding similar size means supporting facility sustainment, restoration and modernization (SRM) of a complex of at least 1,000,000 sq. ft.

* Shall have completed an average of at least 24 hours of safety training per year for the the past five years.

* Have completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent within the last five years.

* Possess the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers EM-385-1-1 Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) qualification or successfully obtain same within 3 months after hire.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, in English.

* Be able to constructively interact with Associates, Customers, Support Staff, Management and Corporate Staff.

* Able to work a non-traditional work week, to include evenings, weekends and/or Holidays as work demands dictate and/or requested by the Project Manager.

* Valid State Drivers License and reliable transportation.

* Proficient in MS Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook).

* Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

* Attention to detail and problem solving skills.

* Strong organizational and planning skills.

* Instructional teaching ability.

* Able to differentiate colors.

**Preferred Requirements:**

* Prior military or experience working on Government Contracts.
