*This role is supporting a well-known mechanical contractor in the Albuquerque market. Willing to consider relocation package for qualified candidates interested in relocating to the area.
Summary/Objective
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare quotes/proposals for construction projects. Take off, quantity survey, organize estimate, prepare bid, and win projects with well-defined time limits. Work on projects of complex size and scope across a full spectrum of construction services within various industries.
Essential Functions
- Previous estimating experience preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communicator and problem-solver.
- Competency with computerized estimating and digital take off software.
- Ability to estimate both design build and plan/spec projects.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand mechanical drawings/prints and specifications.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and specifically Excel
- Analytical review and reporting, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work and produce a deliverable to a deadline.

Responsibilities/Duties
- Knowledge of estimating software, currently QuickPen Software / Trimble AutoBid software tools to perform on-screen project takeoffs.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of mechanical systems with ability to select proper system components as established by project engineer.
- Knowledge of and interconnection between mechanical piping and HVAC systems that stems from prior experience.
- Identify risks inherent to a project due to location, specific building type or construction, or any stringent specification, quality control, or safety requirements.
- Manage, organize, and communicate bid documentation for an assigned bid.
- Read, understand, and assign cost to all bid related documents (drawings, specs, instructions to bidders).
- Analyze and accurately estimate cost of construction material and labor for new facilities, retrofit projects, and fabrication projects.
- Ability to run an independent assessment of an estimate s accuracy (upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man-hours, material, construction, and costs) with the Chief Estimator prior to bid day.
- Work according to project timelines and required processes.
- Work collaboratively with other peer estimators, project managers, engineers, detailers, vendors.
- Solicit, analyze, and select subcontractor / vendor proposals.
- Manage project management teams expectations through communications both written and verbal.
- Perform detailed take-off and unit cost estimates.
- Perform pricing breakouts as required by customers.
- Provide high quality product proposals for customer review.
- Communicate with vendors regarding product and shipping schedules.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects effectively.
- Electronically maintain records of all working documents and data to back up estimates.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Promote a safe and injury free work environment for each project.
