Industrial Automation Engineer II


Job Details

Through the application of engineering fundamentals and advanced process control tools, the Automation Engineer II will ensure that processes are centered, capable and in control; reduce process variations; and resolve special causes variation. Scheduling, planning, and executing all electrical and instrumentation maintenance and project activities in the plant with limited interruption to the plant s production requirements.


The scope of this position covers all facility PLC services and associated control system maintenance. Develop methods to improve and maintain the reliability of the electrical and systems instrumentation equipment in the plant. Manage the completeness and accuracy of software/drawing equipment files and history. Assist in the development of electrical PM activities with established program and manage efficiency and effectiveness of such PM program.


  • Reports directly to the Performance Improvement Manager.
  • Responsible for planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing automation related projects and initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Production and Engineering Managers to coordinate changes in the production process and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Manages automation related projects and provides weekly status report to plant management and participates in Focus Improvement teams to resolve critical process and production problems with customers and vendors.
  • Develops and maintains PLC/HMI systems from the plant floor to management and financial levels and maintains automation related systems (PLC/HMI/VFD/Instrumentation/Network) and implements required updates to avoid technical obsolescence.
  • Provides training for operators and maintenance personnel.
  • Continuously evaluates workplace for safety concerns and ensures behavioral safety initiatives are performed to goal levels.


Requirements

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology or similar discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years applied professional experience in electrical process control, instrumentation, automation and computer and data communication systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in CAD, project design, machine design capabilities for small projects.

This position is located at the Moundsville CertainTeed Gypsum Plant in Proctor, West Virginia. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the national pay range for this position which is $79,500 to $123,400 per year, however, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.


In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 10% of base salary based on company and individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is up to $135,740.00. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
