This role may be eligible for Per Diem Incentive Premium of $2.50 per hour.

Per Diem requirements: Must work a minimum of 6 shifts in 8 week scheduling block



Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit

The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford consists of 2 units with a total of 40 beds.

Each locked unit provides a 24-hour treatment program designed to provide care for adults ages 18-95 in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care.

Our team of mental health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth.

We have a full-time Nurse Educator on-site for additional support and further learning for all of our staff.

Position Summary

The health care work force of the future should have the knowledge and skills to provide patient-centered, community-focused, cost-effective, clinically-effective, coordinated care. To do these things successfully, the work force must be competent, flexible, and adaptive to changes in health care delivery and technology. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performance of complex, individualized, family oriented nursing care in accordance with policies and procedures under the direct supervision of a charge/shift leader RN.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)


  • Education: N/A
  • License/Certifications: Current licensure from the Maine State Board of Nursing as an R.N. required. BSN preferred. BLS and ability to perform CPR required. ACLS preferred.
    Experience: Minimum of one year's acute care experience as an R.N. preferred.
