JOB SUMMARY

The Center for the Innovative Workforce has several ongoing projects and is looking for a Project Manager to support these initiatives. The principle project initially will be to manage work under a Department of Labor grant, From Caretaker to Breadwinner, involving reskilling individuals with good customer service skills to work in the technology support field, The Project Manager will support the Center Director to manage the activities under this and other pending grants.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage projects to support and achieve the Center's strategic priorities.
  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of all assigned project phases, from initiation to closeout, to deliver the outcomes within scope, budget, and schedule constraints.
  • Support the development of project management standards and procedures and implement process improvement strategies across the Center.
  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs coordinating closely with the Grant Manager in the Office of Sponsored Programs.
  • Lead and facilitate project planning and management sessions with the Center Director, key grant personnel, internal and external stakeholders, and project team members.
  • Synthesize information from all stakeholders to accurately define scope, milestones, resource requirements, progress made, issues encountered, and outcomes.
  • Establish clear decision-making and communication processes for the Center projects.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring all work is appropriately tasked out and completed appropriately within the terms of any funding arrangement, such as documentation of hours performed.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans that ensure all deliverables are on time, with respect to competing Center timelines and priorities.
  • Coordinate and validate timely receipt of high-quality deliverables.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including project charters, detailed project plans and schedules, risk logs, progress reports, and closeout reports.
  • Deliver quantitative and qualitative project reports to the Center Director.
  • Coordinate with the Center Director to develop and implement corrective actions as needed.
EXPERIENCE
  • At least 2 years of experience managing service-focused projects in an educational or not-for-profit organization.
  • Technical knowledge including project management standards, proect management software, Office 365, database management and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and to lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education BA or BS required, MS or MA preferred

Experience Must have held previous work experience

Licenses or Certifications PMP, Project+, or equivalent certification
