Job Description

The Tool & Die Maker will serve our Water Heating Division, located in Montgomery, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Specializes in the development, construction, repair, maintenance, and calibration of tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and instruments.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of different types of steels and the way they form.
  • Demonstrates high level technical skill in the use of heat-treating equipment and processes.
  • Can operate various machine tools in support of tool room operations, and performs highly skilled work, such as laying-out, fitting, and assembling parts.
  • Is able to program, set-up and operate computer numerical control machine tools (CNC).
  • Able to set-up and operate coordinate measuring machine (CMM).
  • Specializes in the concept development, construction, repair and maintenance of progressive and forming dies.
  • Requires no or very minimal supervision.
  • Makes design improvements on tools and equipment working with engineers and managers in process improvement.
  • Responsible for training Tool & Die Maintenance machinists in tooling work, maintenance troubleshooting and tool design concepts.
  • Maintain good "6"s housekeeping in work area.
  • Work from written or verbal orders.
  • May be exposed to high noise levels.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or WorkKeys score-Bronze Level.
  • Individual must have completed a 6-year Journeyman's (Machinist or Toolmaker) program plus 4-years of Journeyman experience, or a 2-year Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology with 8-years experience as a Machinist-A level or higher.
  • The following skills will be assessed: Lift truck.
  • General working knowledge and application of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and applied physics.
  • Continuous lifting of 5-25 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting of more than 25 lbs.
  • Frequent strain due to position, unsupported lifting.
