Our client is a leading General Contractor in Rockville, MD. They are looking to bring on a Purchasing Agent to their team that will be responsible in procuring subcontractors and services related to necessary construction trades. This is a great opportunity with a highly recognized General Contractor!

My client is an extremely stable company with a great backlog and works some of the most well known projects in the DMV area. Their portfolio includes building new facilities as well as renovations, restorations and modernizations of large-scale Commercial/Office, Education/Campus, Embassy, Industrial/Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Healthcare, Military/Government, Mission Critical, Data Centers, Museums, Religious/Cultural, Residential Mixed-Use/Hotel, Transportation, and Aviation projects.
There will always be work for employees that have strong work ethic. Most employees have been there for 20+ years and my client will always take care of their employees that work hard. The director runs a department based on flexible culture. The team is also very tight knit and collaborative. My client is looking to find long term individuals that hope to grow into a Senior or Director level one day.
*Description*
* Assist in procuring subcontractors and services related to construction trades for company projects
* Develop scopes of work
* Solicit subcontractors and supplier pricing through phone calls and emails
* Understand and interpret specs
* Write and clearly define scopes of work to portray back to subcontractors to obtain proper pricing
* Perform interviews of potential subcontractors and vendors and document for future use
* Negotiate with subcontractors and other parties on the phone to build relationships
*Profile*
* Technical proficiency in construction
* Strong communication skills, particularly on the phone
* Previous experience in purchasing, estimating, or related field is preferred
* Field experience is a plus
* Must understand how to read and interpret spects
* Ability to work well in a team environmes
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
