D3 Search is actively recruiting a Director of Legal Recruiting on behalf of a prominent and growing natl. law practice headquartered in Los Angeles, CA (90024).

Employer Work Model:

Onsite work model (M-F) preferred.


Position Summary:

The Director of Legal Recruiting reports directly to the Chief Growth Officer ( CGO ), while

maintaining strong collaboration with Practice Leaders, Marketing/Branding, and Human

Resources.


Direct Support

This position will be directly supported by a Legal Recruiting Coordinator, responsible for

streamlining administrative tasks such as interview scheduling, meeting coordination, travel

arrangements, paperwork management, report creation, and new hire onboarding.


Position Summary

The Director of Legal Recruiting is responsible for spearheading the development, execution, and

management of the firm s comprehensive legal recruiting initiatives. This encompasses seamless

coordination of lateral partner, associate, and summer associate recruiting programs. The role

extends to managing attorney focused recruiting campaigns, and nurturing relationships with

law schools, legal associations, recruitment agencies, and other third party service providers.


Duties & Responsibilities


Strategic Planning

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to identify both immediate and long term
  • talent acquisition needs, aligning them with the firm's overarching business objectives.
  • Monitor recruiting trends to develop innovative strategies for attracting high caliber
  • lateral hires and summer associates, while keeping abreast of industry best practices.
  • Craft and execute a dynamic 3 year legal recruiting strategic roadmap, complete with
  • actionable milestones and key performance indicators.


Sourcing of Candidates

  • Proactively identify candidates through diverse avenues such as internal referrals, digital channels, targeted campaigns, and legal search firms.
  • Partner with the Marketing Team to amplify the firm s brand presence across target law schools and legal communities via strategic campaigns.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to identify areas for content development and placements for digital and social media, further enhancing the firm s recruitment outreach.
  • Serve as the public face of the firm in legal recruiting circles, actively engaging in industry events, conferences, and meetings.


Process Management

  • Screen and shortlist optimal lateral partner/associate candidates for presentation to the CGO and applicable Practice Leader.
  • Conduct in depth analysis of lateral partner questionnaires, flagging any areas requiring further scrutiny.
  • Ensure meticulous compilation and timely distribution of interview packets, containing all essential materials for both interviewers and interviewees.
  • Ensure coordination with local offices for interview logistics, including on campus interviews when necessary.
  • Oversee the summer associate program, focusing on a multifaceted experience that spans multiple practice areas, as well as the firm's culture.
  • Maintain an accurate legal recruitment database; and keep search firm agreements current and compliant to avoid any conflicts or overlapping submissions.
  • Collaborate with the Firm Recruiting Partner and Legal Recruiting Coordinator to produce official offer letters and other pertinent hiring documents.
  • In partnership with the HR Team, enforce firm wide policies and protocols for newly recruited attorneys.


Experience & Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a recruiting role, with a focus on the legal sector being highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communicator, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on persuasive presentation skills.
  • Advanced understanding of the nuances and methodologies of effective recruiting within the legal industry.
  • Demonstrable capacity to formulate and execute long range plans within stipulated timeframes and budgets.
  • Outstanding interpersonal competencies.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and GenAI.


Compensation/Salary/Benefits:

Starting salary range is 225K to 255K (DOE/DOQ), plus a robust & comprehensive benefits package, generous PTO, 401K, paid parking (onsite), annual review/raise, annual bonus (based on performance/merit), and many other notable employee-centered perks, etc.


Annual bonus:

50K to 100K range.
