Delivery Specialist / Operations Manager for the Boston Area
UNITS Moving & Portable Storage of Southeast Massachusetts is hiring a Delivery Specialist / Operations Manager to manage deliveries of storage containers around the greater Boston market. This includes loading and unloading portable storage containers at the Facility and onsite at customer s desired locations. Additionally, this role will involve managing operations at the UNITS Facility.
Job Description
The Delivery Specialist / Operations Manager works closely with other team members, including the Customer Service Representative (CSR), to execute the daily route as assigned. This primarily involves loading and unloading containers at the Facility and onsite at customers desired locations. As the face of the organization, the Delivery Specialist is tasked with providing exemplary customer service through personal skills, communication and professionalism. The specialist proactively engages with customers to review all pertinent paperwork, determine proper container placement and promote additional merchandise and protection plan sales. It is paramount that the Delivery Specialist exhibits the quality of UNITS customer service and care.
The Delivery Specialist is also responsible for managing the operations in and around the UNITS Facility by arranging containers as necessary, operating a forklift and other equipment, maintaining an organized work environment and overall being a team player. This role also requires the occasional maintenance of all equipment including trucks, ROBO delivery systems, containers and other ancillary equipment. Additionally, this role requires the use of technology including but not limited to computers, smart phones, applications and the internet.
To exceed in this role you must be a self-starter, willing to work independently with limited supervision. As a company representative you need to be professional and strive to deliver a positive impression to customer s and co-workers alike.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures UNITS containers are transported and delivered to customers in a safe and timely manner
Operates the UNITS Delivery Systems to precisely delivery each container to a designated location
Loads and unloads both empty and full containers at the Facility or at the customers desired location as scheduled
Operates a forklift with skill and has the ability to move/stack containers inside/outside the Facility
Exhibits excellent customer service skills, always
Maintains and services the delivery systems, forklift and containers to proper company standards
Communicates with the Customer Service Representative on container scheduling and deliveries
Communicates proactively with customers regarding estimated delivery time, driving directions, delivery instructions and handles necessary administrative tasks such as the execution of:
o Rental Agreement
o Protection Plan/Damage Waiver
o Customer Contact Information
o Delivery & Pickup Tickets
o Change of Address form (if applicable)
o Delivery of purchased merchandise
Monitors quality control and is responsible for problem solving to ensure customers are provided a positive experience and a constant positive image of the company is maintained
Performs daily pre-shift inspection of the UNITS delivery systems as required by DOT by executing the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report
Maintains the Facility to remain in good working order
Completes the Driver s Log and DVIR for submission to the CSR at the end of each day of operation to maintain orderly records
Possess a great sense of responsibility aimed at safety, communication, time management and attention to details
Works well under pressure especially in adverse situations such as accidents or traffic jams and customer concerns
Takes initiative and is a self starter, demonstrates a willingness to do whatever it takes to get a job done with limited supervision. Ability to work autonomously
Regular attendance and punctuality required
Will be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy
