I am currently partnered with one of the premier sports and entertainment enterprises in the world to assist them in staffing their rapidly expanding technology organization. I am recruiting for a Principal Data Engineer who is enthusiastic about building engaging products that are changing the landscape of live sports and entertainment and delivering new digital experiences to millions of consumers. As a Principal Data Engineer, you will join a world-class engineering team contributing to award-winning and complex platforms.
Must be local to New York City - Hybrid environment, 3 days in the Midtown NYC office & 2 days remote
The Principal Data Engineer must have an extensive background in SQL, CTE, ETL experience, expertise in Python for scripting, data movement and data manipulation, and Google BigQuery for Data warehouse.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Deliver on high traffic, large scale global platforms encompassing everything from content to media to on-demand services
- Accelerate and solidify the Data Engineering team s development, deployment, and operational support practices
- Build new data pipelines to enhance and troubleshoot existing ones
- Leverage modern, real-time data-streaming solutions for all new data pipeline development
- Develop complex Python scripts to interact with APIs and data stores
- Work on data sets leveraged to measure consumer behavior, enhance products, optimize marketing pipelines, and directly impact the business bottom line
- Work with 100 s of data sources to help construct data pipelines and analytics solutions
- Work with big data sets as well as smaller data sets use your own discretion to make decisions on the proper framework for each particular use case.
- Join a team in solving challenging problems and enhancing existing products for engaging user experiences
- Maintain and expand upon knowledge of multiple languages, frameworks, tools, devices, applications, and their capabilities
- Lead and take ownership of critical projects and your own initiatives
- Collaborate with a team of extraordinary engineers and technologists
Skills & Experience Needed:
- 7+ Years of SQL data engineering experience
- CTE experience for writing queries
- Expert ability in building scalable and secure data platforms
- Extensive experience in data movement and data manipulation
- Expert level ETL experience
- Experience working with large, Terabyte-scale data sets
- Python experience for scripting
- Expertise with Google BigQuery for data warehouse
- Comfortable working in a GCP environment
- Experience building and supporting data applications in the cloud
- Familiar with Oracle 19 and Oracle Cloud is a plus
- Strong problem-solving capabilities, excellent communicator
- Must be local to New York City - Hybrid environment, 3 days in NYC office, 2 days remote
- Bachelor s Degree, Computer Science, Math or similar
