**Essential Duties:**

The Day Support Specialist is a team member who provides support to people who participate in Bridges Day Support Program.
Ideal candidate:
+ Has a passion for working with adults with developmental disabilities in providing support, guidance, and opportunities for people to learn new skills.
+ Possesses creative teaching methods when providing opportunities for people to gain and strengthen skills.
+ Willingness to share interests, hobbies, and community networks, as a way to expand horizons for the people receiving services.
+ Remains vigilant in ensuring optimal health and safety and that all documentation reflects supports provided.
+ Knowledgeable in providing supports and skill building opportunities in life areas such as: community living, health, relationships, coping skills, medication administration, personal care, safety, employment, budgeting, crisis intervention, and volunteer opportunities.
+ Familiar with Home and Community Based regulations & Human Rights regulations.
**Education and Experience:**
* High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities.
* OR Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Human Services or related field.
* CNA preferred.
**Knowledge and Skills:**
* Able to maintain, track, and analyze daily records.
* Knowledge of basic teaching techniques and vocational training techniques
* Knowledge of behavior management and crisis intervention.
* Ability to work with developmentally disabled population.
**Special Requirements:**
+ Valid Virginia drivers license with acceptable record.
+ Attend training and maintain certifications as required.
+ Ability to regularly lift lightweight materials, and occasionally lift heavy materials (over 60 pounds)
* **Worker may be exposed to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialist personal protective equipment.**
**Salary is $15.11 hourly**
