Job Description

Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for building relationships with prospective graduate students, counseling them through the admissions processes, and fostering an open environment into which prospective students can explore if the University of Findlay is the right fit for them. The position will require close collaboration with a specific college(s), assigned academic program(s), and/or other entities on campus. Additionally, the graduate counselor is responsible for development, planning, and management of a prospective student population, which includes occasional travel to attend college fairs/professional meetings, and to establish relationships with businesses, school systems, health care organizations, and community colleges. Evening and weekend work is required. This posting is for a full-time, 12-month, 40 hours per week, non-exempt position.

Essential Functions

1. Work effectively with others to achieve common goals and an ability to alter planned activities in order to accommodate new or changed situations.
2. Formulate, affect, interpret, and implement recruitment strategies for designated program(s).
3. Communicate regularly with program directors to ensure that recruitment materials are current and accurate.
4. Represent UF at fairs, shows, professional meetings, etc.
5. Advise students concerning degree requirements.
6. Assist with lead mailings and identify appropriate mailing lists for recruitment.
7. Utilize the University CRM system to manage the student enrollment process, monitor the communication plan and track progress on goals and objectives.
8. Manage the University communication plan throughout the life of the student enrollment process.
9. Advise and counsel prospective students on scholarship opportunities, financial aid eligibility, and payment options.
10. Cultivate and maintain relationships with businesses, school systems, health care organizations, and community colleges through planned outreach.
11. Document all recruiting efforts and recommend advertising and outreach initiatives.
12. Work with program directors to maintain contact from lead to enrollment.
13. Assist director as needed with support and orientation services.
14. Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for this position.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone. Light to moderate lifting may be required.

Travel

A valid US Drivers' license with a safe driving record is required, and the energy and ability to travel. Some evening and weekend work, and some overnight travel are expectations of this position. Fall travel season usually begins in mid-September and ends in mid-November. Spring travel usually happens throughout March and April.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 18 months of related industry experience.
  • Excellent public speaking skills, writing skills, along with analytical and planning skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access (or other databases), Windows 10 are also required.


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's degree.
  • Three of more years of related industry experience.
  • Previous experience with Customer Relations Management (CRM) system is a plus.
