Associate General Counsel


Job Details

The Associate General Counsel provides legal guidance on health care operations, insurance, HIPAA, and affiliated entity matters and attends to other legal needs for Kelsey-Seybold Clinic.

  • Responsible for legal services relating to the day-to-day operations of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, KelseyCare Advantage, and affiliated entities (pharmacy, ASC, radiology), including compliance with organizational documents.
  • Oversee and handle legal issues, including advising physicians, executives, directors, HR, etc., that may arise.
  • Review and negotiate complex and routine contracts, including but not limited to vendor agreements
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems and develops strategies to avoid costly litigation and reduce potential areas of risk. Develop form contract templates for use by other departments, and review contracts required by the organization.
  • Participate as needed in acquisition or divestiture transactions, including on-boarding of new acquisitions and compiling due diligence materials.
  • Assist in the development of processes, templates, and training materials, and utilizing available technologies to improve and promote efficiency, consistency, and compliance with regulatory and business requirements.



Salary Range: $161,241 - $208,665(Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

Job Qualifications:


Education

Juris Doctor (J.D.) Degree.



Experience

Minimum of 6 years health law experience. Experience within a healthcare organization



Licenses

Texas (TX) license to practice law



Special Skills

Experience in negotiating and drafting contracts in a variety of settings.

Knowledge of federal and state healthcare laws

Excellent communication and time management skills


Essential Duties

Attend to Kelsey-Seybold s compliance with organizational documents and maintain adherence to organizational requirements.

Prepares legal documents as needed. Negotiates, drafts, and reviews complex and routine contracts prior to execution of the document. Develop template contracts for routine departmental use.

Provide practical day-to-day legal, regulatory, and related business guidance on health care regulatory matters, HIPAA, employment laws, ERISA, or other Federal laws affecting health insurance and health plans.

Participates in educational programs and committee meetings where legal advice is anticipated.

Maintain an understanding and continuously monitor current and emerging laws, regulations, and trends that may impact the company s operations. Other duties as assigned.
