**Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for:**
* Providing support to the criminal justice involved client both while in-custody and post release
* Serving as a role model by exhibiting long-term stable personal recovery and use of appropriate coping skills
* Conducting group sessions and assisting clients with goals for recovery
* Consulting with other treatment team members
* Providing resources to assist with recovery and transition
* Traveling throughout State to provide peer support services to clients in SUD treatment
* Other duties as assigned
**Job Requirements:**
* Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required
* Former participant in a substance abuse treatment program and demonstrated long-term stable recovery
* Therapeutic Community experience desired
* Certified Missouri Recovery Support Specialist-Peer (MRSS-P) as required by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB)
* Current drivers license and good driving record
* Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance
**Physical Requirements:**
* Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients.
* Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support.
* Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis.
* Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.
