Job Description SummaryThe General Assembler will work at the Erlanger, KY service center to assemble and disassemble boilers and other large scale, power generation equipment and their sub-assemblies following blueprints and specific work instruction.This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekend work as optional. Available shifts include 6:45AM to 3:15PM or 4:45AM to 1:15PM.Our Erlanger, KY Service Center is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and/or repairs of large utility grade Steam Turbines and Generators.Job DescriptionYour Role:Disassemble major structures and sub-assemblies for boiler parts in a timely manner and according to job order, verbal instructions, procedures, and / or blueprintsPerform basic inventory of parts before assemblyBe responsible for cleaning partsUse measuring tools and apply knowledge of basic mathematics to measure various parts / componentsBreak down and perform visual inspection of internal working parts for structures or sub-assembliesShot blast off paint /rust / etc. using sanding procedureSet up and operate grinders / sanders, jackhammers, oven, pneumatic tools, saws, cranes, blast booth, and fork liftsOperate scissor lift as neededUse various electric / air toolsRecord measurements on various documentsTrouble shoot problems or issues that arise (according to specification)Assist more experienced Assemblers with assemblyBasic QualificationsHigh School Diploma/GED3+ Years of production manufacturing experience with assembly, disassembly of physical components, hand tools, visual inspection, sand blasting, or manufacturing machine operation.Desired QualificationsAbility to calculate figures, basic math, and understanding of measuring and metricsAbility to follow work rules and carry out instructions (written, oral, diagram form)Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situationsAbility to work well with othersProficiency toward continuous improvementAbility to communicate well with othersBasic welding experienceAdditional InformationGE offers a great work environment, professional development, challenging careers, and competitive compensation.
