Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project specifications, drawings, and technical documents to understand project requirements and scope.
  • Identify project risks and collaborate with the project team to determine mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare RFIs for review by Senior Estimator and submission to the owner for clarification of missing information in owner documents.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to gather necessary information for cost estimation.
  • Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Research and evaluate vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for project components.
  • Participate in bid review meetings and assist in the preparation of bid proposals.
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance standards.
  • Assist the negotiations team by providing required information to support the negotiation process.
  • Prior to the issuing of the formal bid package, provide the Senior Estimator with a detailed review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing for the estimated bid package for their approval.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitiveness in bids.
  • Provide support to senior estimators and contribute to departmental initiatives to improve estimating processes and procedures.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior estimators, supporting their professional development and growth within the company.


Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of assigned discipline, construction technology, and estimating techniques.
  • Ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems.
  • Proficiency in performing arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
  • Capability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering design drawings.
  • Identify and meet customers needs, expectations, and requirements.
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of specific variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and change priorities as necessary.
  • Work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work closely with more senior estimators and display a willingness to learn from their feedback.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in the renewable energy sector or related industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Experience in Accubid Enterprise, a plus.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and project meetings.
