Overview: I have clients seeking multiple skilled Structured Cabling Technician to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing structured cabling systems for data, voice, and video communications. The role involves working on a variety of projects, ensuring that cabling infrastructure meets industry standards and client requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including Cat5, Cat6, and Cat6a.
- Install and configure network equipment such as switches, routers, and patch panels.
- Mount and manage data racks, ladder racks, and cable trays to organize cabling infrastructure.
- Label and document cable runs, patch panels, and network connections according to industry standards.
- Conduct site surveys and assess existing cabling infrastructure for new installations and upgrades.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including test results, configurations, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical support and assistance during project implementations and troubleshooting activities.
- Follow safety guidelines and procedures while working in various environments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, or CCNA are a plus BUT not required.
- Proven experience in structured cabling installations, including copper and fiber optic cabling systems.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI/TIA-568, ISO/IEC 11801, and BICSI guidelines.
- Knowledge of network equipment and protocols, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, and PoE are a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
