Our team is growing, and we are looking to add a Production Associate I to our Operations team. In this role, this individual reports to the Production Supervisor and is responsible for assisting the Operations team with all aspects of the daily physical in Production. Additional responsibilities include, cooler or freezer work, completing job-specific paperwork, and working on the back dock as needed.

Principal Duties:

Assisting with running the squid line including, but not limited to:

  • Working the deicing tank, shoveling ice, and pushing the squid to the conveyor belt
  • Packaging squid into 50 lb. bags and moving packaging down roller conveyers
  • Labeling, lifting, and stacking 50 lb. packed squid onto pallets

Assisting with sorting, boxing, and palletizing frozen inventory including, but not limited to:
  • Dumping 44 lb. baskets of product onto a table
  • Stacking empty baskets onto pallets
  • Putting 44 lb. blocks into a box and taping the box closed

Assisting with finished good packing including, but not limited to:
  • Bagging and sealing frozen products and packing them in cases
  • Lifting and stacking boxes on pallets

Cutting cardboard vats or boxes and disposing of them in a garbage compactor

Working in a freezer loading, unloading, organizing, and labeling inventory

Filling ice orders for boats and the plant as needed

Cleaning and sanitizing the plant to standard

Follow all Quality Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and OSHA Safety requirements

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Secondary Duties

Preparing packaging and make boxes for boats using a staple machine

Assisting in boat offloading, shoveling ice, and lifting 50 lb. boxes of fish

Operating pallet jacks and forklifts safely

Working in a cooler loading, unloading, organizing, and labeling inventory

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Ideal candidate will have:
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment under time constraints
  • Physically capable of performing manual work including lifting 60 lbs repetitively, bending, walking, shoveling, climbing ladders, and standing for long periods of time indoors and outdoors in fluctuating conditions (cold, heat, wind) and wet manufacturing environments
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and effectively
  • Basic knowledge of species of fish or ability to learn
  • Ability to learn quality specifications of products
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • Ability to work well in a diverse, multi-lingual environment
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks to standard
  • Ability and skills to operate machinery once trained
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English required, Spanish a plus
  • Flexibility in planning to accommodate the quick changes in seafood production
  • Ability to work early morning and afternoon shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to display a positive and helpful attitude with peers as well as vendors
