About the position:

This dynamic position is the final phase of our e-commerce operation where merchandise sold online is boxed, labelled, and shipped to waiting customers.

Donated goods are sold through several online channels such as shopgoodwill.com and ebay.com. A package shipper focuses on maintaining customer satisfaction throughout the purchase process, including a satisfying delivery experience.

The packaging team processes customer orders, securely packing merchandise for handling and delivery by carriers like FedEx and USPS. Avoiding breakage and damage is an essential component of a package shipper's responsibilities.

Personal pacing and organization are critical in this position, maintaining momentum to meet hourly and shift-specific shipping goals while practicing efficient order processing by date.

Besides packaging and shipping using web-based software, shippers print and pick orders from inventory, stock supplies, organize department storage, and maintain clean, efficient work areas.

Successful package shippers maintain attention to detail and show pride in effective and timely packing methods to minimize damage and avoid shipping errors.

Recommended Skill Set

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently in fast-paced environment.
  • Able to stand or sit for long periods at work station and lift up to 40 lbs., occasionally up to 80 lbs.
  • Proficient with PCs, including email, Microsoft applications, and internet use.
  • Understand and follow established safety rules.
  • Able to work within package preparation guidelines, including prioritizing orders by date.
  • Able to coordinate and work courteously as a team member to achieve group and department goals.
  • Basic math and communication skills.
  • Exhibit a friendly demeanor and cooperatively interact with diverse co-workers.
  • Knowledge of collectibles, antiques, thrifting, and/or collecting strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in warehouse environment and using pallet jack and/or lift truck helpful.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, though relevant training and experience will be considered in lieu of this requirement.
