Real Estate Private Equity Associate


Job Details

RETS Associates on behalf of our client, a well-regarded real estate private equity firm, is looking to add a talented Asset Management Associate to join their commercial real estate asset management team in Washington, DC. The primary responsibilities of the role will be for the financial modeling and analysis of the investments made by the Fund. The analyst will work directly as an investment team member within the Real Estate Group and have direct contact with Managing Directors, Principals, Vice Presidents and Senior Associates.


Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining investment level Excel models to capture complex capital structure and waterfall calculations;
  • Creating sensitivity models for strategic initiatives and provide concise results;
  • Participating in operational, development and leasing calls to drive the strategy of the investment;
  • Updating quarterly investor communications and reporting;
  • Managing ownership documentation including debt and venture agreements to ensure compliance and covenants and terms;
  • Calculating quarterly asset and equity valuations and preparing documentation;
  • Assisting the investment team with transactions related activities such as exits/dispositions, major lease analysis and recapitalizations



Candidates MUST have:

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or related degree from a top tier University with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher;
  • No more than 1-3 years of experience in commercial real estate analysis;
  • Advanced Excel skills, you must be able to create models from scratch (there is a test);
  • Argus is a plus, but not necessary;
  • Strong drive to succeed and work long hours in a team-oriented, rewarding environment;
