SUMMARY

Macdonald & Co., North Carolina, has partnered again with a lean and rapidly growing residential real estate finance and asset management company to appoint a Real Estate Paralegal & Closing Coordinator to their newly opened Charlotte office.


The firm is backed by relationships with several large (multi-billion-dollar) private equity groups, and this opportunity will see the candidate quickly become an integral part of a growing team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment with interactions with clients, attorneys, and direct reporting lines to top senior leadership.


This individual will be involved in several facets of the operations including loan closings, lot sales, partial releases, and loan payoffs.


RESPONSIBILITIES

To ensure success as a Real Estate Paralegal & Closing Coordinator, you should demonstrate solid knowledge of the firm s lending process, procedures, and have prior experience in a similar role. Assist with and coordinate background checks, KYC documentation, assist lawyers with preparing and reviewing loan documents, lien searches, title updates, and lien releases. An outstanding Real Estate Paralegal & Closing Coordinator will be someone whose expertise contributes to the timely and accurate finalization of transactions. Responsibilities include:

  • Loan Closings
  • Obtain KYC Documentation for new Borrower relationships.
  • Review Term Letters for completeness and compliance with company policies.
  • Provide attorneys with Key Terms of new loans and kick off Legal Process.
  • Coordinate preparation of loan documents with Lender Legal Counsel and review.
  • Coordinate and review Tri-party Agreement with Borrower and Builder Partner.
  • Assist Legal Counsel and Deal Team with Due Diligence Checklist items.
  • Assist with analyzing title documents and legal descriptions of property.
  • Keep electronic files organized and filed currently in Egnyte data storage folders.
  • Answer borrower questions and escalate any serious concerns.
  • Prepare Lender Closing Invoice and Review and Approve HUD Closing Statements.
  • Facilitate communications and keep deal team, borrower, and private equity team updated on status throughout the closing process and timing of the closing.
  • Coordinate with Treasury group for funding initial loan proceeds at closing.
  • Lot Sales and Loan Paydowns
  • Prepare and provide Partial Release Paydown Letters for planned lot Sales.
  • Review HUD Settlement Statements for Lot Sales, Record Sale Transactions, and Loan Paydowns.
  • Prepare and execute Partial Releases and provide to title companies for filing upon receipt of paydown proceeds.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates should possess a minimum of a bachelor s degree in paralegal studies or post-bachelor s degree paralegal certification; a focus on real estate lending is preferred.
  • Candidates should possess a minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidates should have excellent collaboration and communication abilities, and genuine, keen attention to detail.
  • Candidates should have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, have extensive knowledge of real estate loan documents, and have superb organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Candidates should be self-motivated and able to prioritize tasks.
