Description

Provide accurate and timely receiving, storage and security of product. Fill requisitions and delivery to departments of food, office supplies and other items required for daily operation. Sanitation of food storage facilities using pressure washer, cleaning solutions and other equipment. Assure Purchasing Dept. areas are neat, clean and safe on daily basis. Transfer recyclable materials from departments to appropriate storage areas as required. Provide departments with recycling bins/bags as requested. Coordinate rotation of food items assuring perishables are used on first-in, first-out basis. Assist Buyers with taking and extension of weekly, month end inventories, daily/weekly cycle counts. Monitor company e-mail and inter-departmental transfers and resulting computer work. Handle incoming and outgoing freight shipments. Ensure equipment under Purchasing Dept. is in working order.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Communicate with buyers to remain abreast of deliveries to Hotel.

Receive shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures and established sanitation guidelines. Assure products listed are received and in good/usable condition.

Coordinate product rotation, timely and secure storage of inventory items.

Strictly limit access to storage areas.

Notify and/or deliver non-inventory items to appropriate departments upon arrival.

Fill requisitions, monitor usages and inventory levels. Assure appropriate levels of inventory are maintained in each department.

Facilitate filling and delivery of printed material and first aid supplies to appropriate departments.

Notify Buyer of low-stock, outage conditions, and incorrect deliveries.

Source and place orders.

Maintain clean and sanitized Purchasing areas according to company policy and health department requirements. Report unsafe and/or unsanitary conditions to Purchasing Manager in timely fashion.

Assist in taking and extension of weekly and/or month end inventories.

Assure smooth flow of paperwork in accordance with company policies.

Act as liaison between vendors and Purchasing Department.

Assist other departments during peak workloads.

Monitor company e-mail for information/tasks to complete, inter-departmental transfers, inventory labeling operations, bar coding, and automated physical counting operations.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

High school completion or equivalency required.

Work experience in hotel/restaurant industry is preferred.

Must have excellent communication, customer service and people skills.

Must have excellent typing and computer skills.

Must be able to prioritize and multi task.

Purchasing Department, Sage, Excel and Microsoft Word experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to lift, carry and/or maneuver up to 200 lbs with assistance. Ability to lift 50 lbs consistently is required. Lifting to shoulder height or above may be required.

Must be able to bend, twist, stoop and lift consistently.

Adequate hearing to accommodate telephone, supplier, customer and guest conversations and communications.

Must be able to work in hot or cold environments for extended periods of time.

Ability and willingness to work shifts in excess of 8 hours, weekends, holidays and/or in excess of 40 hours per week as workload or scheduling changes deem necessary.

Must be able to walk in snow, icy, uneven, slick conditions.
