Position Summary:

Establishes and conducts the functions of quality/risk management that are required on a daily basis including scheduling, variance report follow-up, setting up interviews, RCA investigation sessions, complaint and grievance, data collection, document submission and information requests.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Investigates safety events and reported safety concerns.
  • Track deadlines and ensure that required documentation is completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Communicates with patients, staff, and leaders in person, over the phone and via email.
  • Assures that programs, initiatives, processes and policies are in compliance with state, federal and other accrediting bodies/regulatory agencies.
  • Performs research when requested.
  • Appropriately handles requests and queries for information.
  • Manages data collection, compiles data and submits accurate data in a timely manner as required by regulatory agencies or as part of any initiative. Creates graphs, tables and other data displays.
  • Assists in the implementation of departmental quality and risk initiatives.
  • Assists in the implementation of departmental quality initiatives and analysis of outcomes data. Analyzes, shares, and assists with interpretation of outcomes data with appropriate staff, medical staff and customers.
  • Assures appropriate level of understanding, awareness and compliance with all applicable Joint Commission, CMS, state and local agency laws, internal/external regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  • Works in multiple software systems as assigned.
  • Serves as chapter leader for designated Joint Commission chapters as assigned by Director of Quality and Risk to include ensuring that all applicable elements of performance are addressed and monitored.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent computer skills, including the use of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Word.
  • Ability to lead groups in quality/performance improvement initiatives and work with directors/managers to develop quality initiatives.
  • Basic analytical knowledge and skill needed to help directors/managers establish ways to measure performance and progress towards desired improvement goals.
  • Must be well organized and able to set priorities.
  • Must be detail oriented as well as possess excellent communication skills. Discretion and integrity are recognized requirements.

EDUCATION

  • Minimum associate degree of nursing
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires 3-5 years clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting. Prefer at least 1 year of quality experience.

CERTIFICATE/LICENSE

  • Iowa RN license
