SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities concerned with production of company products and oversees production workers in the manufacturing area by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers and delegates duties.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production problems.
  • Consults with Operations relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Provide a safe work environment by communicating and enforcing compliance of all safety policies and procedures; Conducts and follows through on safety inspections; Attends and participates in safety functions.
  • Conducts and follows through with accident investigations and accident-related reporting in a timely manner. Effectively manages return to work program.
  • Ensures effective training of new and existing employees.
  • Confers with other areas of production to coordinate activities of individual departments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises production employees. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree with eight to ten years of experience managing welding production and/or training, or two- or four-year degree in management related field with five to eight years of experience managing welding production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with MIG Process welding
  • Ability to operate PC and standard office equipment. Microsoft Office proficiency required, and ERP experience preferred.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to read technical specifications, blueprint drawings and fit-up procedures required
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 (quality)
  • Experience with a band saw and/or press brake a plus
