We are looking for a Safety Coordinator to join Kaiser Aluminum at our Newark Ohio plant just outside of Columbus!


What you will be working on:

  • Support the development of safety & health programs.
  • Conduct and coordinate safety training with a focus on Strategic Road Map compliance.
  • Support compliance to OSHA regulations and Kaiser Aluminum policies/programs.
  • Participate in safety related investigations.
  • Communicate safety information.
  • Maintain safety and health records (including OSHA recordkeeping).
  • Ensure compliance with hearing conservation and respiratory protection.
  • Must be able to walk/climb throughout all mill areas.
  • Able to work at heights. Assist in development of emergency response plans.
  • Help resolve safety issues and complaints. Worker's Comp. support.
  • Update/revise safety training data, safety & health manual and safety reference information.
  • Support the management of the Health and Safety Management System as a plant representative and be an active leader in the daily plant safety activities.
  • Conduct audits of employee and contractor work sites against Kaiser Aluminum standards, regulatory standards (OSHA/MSHA/FRA), and for recognition of hazards.
  • Understanding of Safety Management Systems such as OSHA 18001 and OSHA VPP. Perform the above with minimal direction and through joint union management efforts.


What you will bring to the position:

  • Four plus (4+) years of experience in Occupational Safety & Health in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical ability allowing for the interpretation and application of Regulatory and Company standards.
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Union experience preferred.
