At Montgomery Logistics we have two customers: The shipper and our partner carriers. As a Carrier Relations Manager or CRM, you ll be responsible for growing, managing, and developing relationships with both new and existing carriers across the country.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop customer base and sourcing capacity.
- Book loads, make deals, and negotiate rates.
- Post available loads & search for trucks on 3rd party load boards.
- Track & trace shipments from start to finish. Provide Account Managers with up-to-date information on the progress of their loads to ensure on time service,
- Maintain relationships with qualified partner carriers and enter them into TMS.
- Determine needs of carrier base & identify lanes of network value for them.
- Occasional travel may be required to meet with customers.
- Other duties as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- High School diploma
- Understanding of current FMCSA Regulations and hours of service.
- Existing carrier relationships. Flatbed carriers are a plus.
- 1+ year experience in transportation/logistics or degree in Supply Chain Management.
- Experience with McLeod software, and consistent record of accurately rating and pricing truckload shipments preferred.
- Proficient use in Microsoft suite of products (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with ability and desire to build lasting relationships with carriers, dispatchers, and drivers.
- Time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and effectively handle multiple accounts simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively negotiate and solve problems by offering creative solutions.
- Ability to work in a team environment, while also delivering independent results.
- Anticipate and proactively resolve potential customer service issues.
